I've learned my lesson so I'm watching "Spartacus" live, as it were, so I
won't be writing to Time Warner about the continuing Starz On Demand
problem. But for any of you Time Warner customers who want to watch this
violent-as-300/sexy as Showtime series look at ancient Rome (I hadn't
thought of slaves as fluffers before), don't wait to see it On Demand. 3
weeks in and already Time Warner has dropped the 2nd episode from the on
Demand menu. Starz was repeating the earlier episodes during the week so
catch them then, or you'll have to wait for the DVD. Or you can write Time
Warner and complain.

At the way other extreme of TV watching, ABC Family this week is dropping
its midnight repeats of original series (which is when I DVRd them) of
"Secret Life", "Make It" and "Greek", so you have to DVR them while you
watch "24" and "House" etc. (OK, so I'll watch the PIX teen shows on
another TV while all those are being DVRd. And then "Heroes" and "Chuck" on
the On Demand Channel on Time Warner, which so far seems not to miss
episodes like the premium and BBC A On Demand channels do.)

While you folks were watching the Super Bowl, I was catching up on my DVR
and On Demand shows.

Maybe they're removing them so quickly because the ratings aren't good? I
never turn anything off in the middle, but after looking forward to the
series, we turned it off halfway through the premiere because we found it so
simplistic and boring. If it's been better since then, please let me know.

I watched with extreme sadness as the remaining parts of the Who ran through the medley last night.

By "parts", I'm not referring to the remaining members - I'm talking about the parts OF the remaining members. Part of Daltrey's voice, Part of Townshend's guitar playing, the smallest conceivable fraction left of what once was.

Absent without leave were the ghosts of Keith Moon and John Entwhistle. Were they alive, they would no doubt have realized how bad they sounded, and how horrible they looked, and flatly refused to be seen or heard in public.

At times during the "performance", Roger started to look, and worse, sound like Randy Newman doing a bad Roger Daltrey impression, and Pete looked like Frank Perdue or Ed Koch.

Whatever happened to dignity? And "who" will "sell out" for 12 minutes of humiliation next year?

Loudon Wainwright said it best (at the writing of the song, George Harrison was still alive)..

I've been watching Spartacus hoping it would grab me. I think it looks chea=
p and silly visually and the slow-mo gore makes me laugh at times. Sam Peck=
inpah did that so much better. I do kind of like that the character of Spar=
tacus is being given room to grow as the series moves along, but overall th=
e series has been a disappointment for me so far. Starz must like the show =
though because they renewed it for a second season before the first episode=
 aired.

I totally agree Scott,

I was watching with my young (16) son and I told him "these guys had
some of the best music ever when I was younger". I proceeded to tell
him about John and Keth and all and his response was "is that the
original drummers kit?" And as he was asking this Zak was doing a
pathetic Keith Moon on Won't Get Fooled aAgain, and sadly I said " no
so that ain't Keith Moon's drums and not even close to what the real guy
could/would do".

1) I saw 'The Last Station' - in addition to the fine acting, except, perhap=

papparazzi' - as the reporters maintain a constant position on Tolstoy's la=

Bob, do your son, yourself, and me a favor and play "The Who Sell Out" for
him. If you don't own it, go to:

http://listen.grooveshark.com/#/playlist/The+Who+Sell+Out/24764652

When you get there, click "Play All."

I listened to all of it several times yesterday, and Keith LIVES!

I still recall Richard Goldstein's 1967 year-end review in the Voice, when
he voted Keith the best drummer of the year, saying he sounds like an entire
regiment.

Anyone got a small (and that is the operative word) theater in her/his
pocket? Himself has been invited to the Phillipstown Depot Theater in
Garrison on June 11th, to do his one-man play. And I'd love to take a shot
at NYC.

The comments and size estimates are not mine. The first may be too big, Papa
Bear, though the shows are early. The last is a 4 act a-night-er, unless we
wanted to put together a whole Sunday night. Okay, I confess, I grew up in
Manhattan and I don't know anything at all about Brooklyn.

B/C is great, as I know this is WaaaaaY off whatever the heck the topic is
here, but I am always delighted when there are messages.
